Photographs from darkness, movement and light – Movimage condenses dance, space and time into a single image full of dynamism and depth.
About the series
The series Movimage explores the fluid connection between space, body and time. In the collaboration between architect, photographer and filmmaker Ragunath V and choreographer and dancer Ioannis Mandafounis, images emerge in which dance, photography, film and architecture merge.
Through improvised movement, long exposures and targeted pulses of light, the artists create the “space-time body” – a visual object that condenses choreography into a single image. Shot in complete darkness, the photographs reveal not only traces of movement but also a new understanding of space and perception. Each image captures the entire moment of the dance, yet leaves room for individual interpretation – an invitation to see time and space anew.
Exhibition
The exhibition took place at the gallery “Kunst in anderen Räumen”, Oppenheimer Landstraße 45, Frankfurt, from 13 October to 30 November 2023.
