Tilt-Shift Bookshelf
A distorted play with space and order

- Type
- Furniture, shelf
- Construction
- Slot-together system, no glue or screws
- Stability
- Load shared between wall and floor
The Tilt-Shift Bookshelf is an experimental exploration of perception, geometry and function. Instead of fitting into the familiar orthogonality of a room, this shelf deliberately breaks with conventional structures. The tilted lines create a visual tension that sets the room in motion and questions the static nature of a bookshelf.
Because of the shelf's tilt, the books stay stable and need no additional bookends. The construction follows a simple slot-together system that does without connecting elements such as glue or screws. This makes the shelf quick to assemble and dismantle and keeps it flexible in use.
The tilted structure distributes the total weight evenly between wall and floor, which gives the shelf a particular stability. Despite its apparent instability, the function remains – the shelf still provides storage, but with a new spatial dynamic.
The Tilt-Shift Bookshelf is not just a piece of furniture but a playful reflection on architecture, order and the way we read and experience spaces.
